Student Recognition at Granada Middle School

Our students are recognized for their academic and behavioral successes each year.  See the document below, which explains the Student Recognition at Granada Middle School.

Academic Awards
Honor Roll and Principal’s List: Students will be recognized each semester for Honor
Roll (GPA of 3.5-3.74) and Principal’s List (GPA of 3.75 and above). These students
receive a certificate recognizing their achievement during a grade-level reward
assembly. These assemblies occur a month or two after the end of each grading
period.

Presidential Academic Excellence Award: 8th graders will be recognized during our
8th grade promotion for maintaining straight A’s for all semesters during their middle
school years.

Awards Night
At the end of the year we hold a night event where we recognize students with
outstanding citizenship and academic performance. Along with the awards noted above
we also recognize the following achievements:

Teacher’s Choice Award: Each teacher use a variety of criteria (academic
achievement, citizenship, etc.) to select two students to recognize as their Teacher’s
Choice Award recipients.

Students of the Year: Each grade level and our Physical Education department use a
variety of criteria (academic achievement, citizenship, etc.) to select two students to
recognize as their Students of the Year.

Outstanding Achievement in Language Development: Our students that are
learning English as their second language will be recognized for demonstrating
proficiency in the English language.

Principal’s Award for Academic Excellence: Students will be recognized during our
annual Awards Night for having maintained straight A’s for all grading periods during
that school year (1st Quarter, 1st Semester, 3rd Quarter, & 2nd Semester).

Citizenship Awards
Parents of those students receiving awards are invited to a monthly assembly that is
held to recognize the students for the following:

Students of the Month: Each grade level uses a variety of criteria (the monthly
character trait, academic achievement, citizenship, etc.) to select two students to
recognize as their Students of the Month.

Citizens of the Month: Each teacher uses a variety of criteria (the monthly character
trait, citizenship, etc.) to select two students to recognize as their Citizens of the Month.
