8th Grade Promotion 2021
Dear 8th Grade Parents,
We are so excited to have the opportunity to celebrate our students at an in-person promotion ceremony this year! This letter is to remind you that Wednesday, June 2nd is our last day of school and the date set to devote to our eighth grade promotion ceremonies. 8th grade students will not be attending classes this day, but instead will arrive to school 45 minutes before their assigned promotion time. We will be having 3 promotions located on the Granada fields throughout the day. Due to social distancing guidelines, students have been assigned times. The only way for us to acknowledge your students via promotion is to follow the strict guidelines set forth by social distancing. These times are fixed in terms of seating arrangements and spacing, so we appreciate your cooperation. Please wear masks and practice social distancing by lining up on the social distancing dots along the gate (6 feet apart).
Each student will receive 4 tickets for the promotion once they return their books and materials on Tuesday, June 1st. So, please remind students to bring all of their textbooks and novels to school when their teachers collect them. Chromebooks will be collected after school in a drive thru on Tuesday, June 1st from 2:00-3:00 pm in the Stamy parking lot. Due to social distancing guidelines, please limit tickets to family/household units who will be sitting together in groups of 4. Parking will be available in our parking lot and in the surrounding neighborhood; we do ask that you consider carpooling to alleviate parking concerns. As a courtesy to others we ask that you do not bring balloons, umbrellas, or other large objects that may obstruct others’ views during the ceremony. We would appreciate all cell phones be turned off or on silent and not answered for the duration of the ceremony. After promotion, the eighth grade students will be released to parents to go home. We also ask that everyone leaves in a timely manner since we have other promotions scheduled for that day.
All 6th and 7th grade students will be on distance learning from home on promotion day with a minimum day dismissal at 11:30 am. We want to remind everyone that school dress code is still in effect for the promotion ceremony. Typical dress is semi-formal. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Granada has had a wonderful year thanks to our students, parents, and staff. We can't wait to celebrate y(our) amazing 8th grade students!
