Principal's Message

Greetings Granada Families,

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year and to Granada Middle School!  These have been challenging times for all of us and this is a different world for our students, families, and staff.  However, we are committed to educating and supporting y(our) students to give them the best learning experiences possible. Continued hard work, optimism, and collaboration will help to make this happen.  I hope that you have enjoyed your summer vacation with friends and family.  It is an honor to join Granada Middle School, which has been recognized for its outstanding programs as a California Gold Ribbon School, California Distinguished School, CBEE Honor Roll School, and GreatSchools Spotlight School for Hispanic Students. I am  proud to work in this esteemed school and district and to be a part of the East Whittier City School District.

As principal, I am excited and honored to work with such a committed group of students, families, and staff.  Teachers and staff have been working together to plan for an enriching school year.  I am looking forward to working with our families and the PTSA, who play an integral role in supporting our school.  Please know that we value parent involvement and welcome you to work as partners with us.  Our goal is to provide a rigorous and engaging learning environment to help prepare our students to be college and career ready.

With experience as an educator in the Los Angeles Unified School District, I have served in a wide range of capacities, both inside and outside of the classroom.  My years in education have given me the opportunity to work as a teacher, an Instructional Coach and Intervention Coordinator at both the elementary and secondary levels, assistant principal, and principal. Prior to this position, I served as principal in the Westminster School District.

On behalf of the entire Granada team, I look forward to a year of growth, collaboration, and fostering best practices, while working alongside the wonderful staff, parents, students, and Granada community to empower all students as they explore their passions to be future ready.  We would like to thank you for your partnership and support and we will continue to work together to create a learning environment in which our students can thrive and be successful.  Please continue to check our website and social media for important information and updates.  Click on the Granada Facebook page to see some of the great things happening here.  I am looking forward to a productive school year starting on Tuesday, August 11th, and I am looking forward to meeting each and every one of you.
